Chinese Coast Guard takes maritime control of Tiexan Reef in the Spratly Islands

On Saturday, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported earlier this month that the country's coast guard "implemented maritime control" over Tiexian Reef, also known as Sandy Cay. This small sandbank, part of the Spratly Islands, is located near Thitu Island, also known as Pag-asa, where a Philippine military facility is situated.
