On Tuesday, two men armed with blade weapons boarded a Singapore-flagged tanker as it transited eastbound through the Phillip Channel of the Singapore Strait, just northwest of Kapalajernih Island, Indonesia. At the time of the incident, the vessel was underway at 8.5 knots and had an estimated freeboard of 8.7 meters. There were no reported casualties or damage to the vessel. Rebels take control of Deir Ezzor
Insurgents in Syria claim to have taken control of the city of Deir Ezzor from Kurdish-led, US-backed forces. The rebel group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, plans to secure the area and expand its control to other parts of eastern Syria. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces had briefly held the city before being replaced by the insurgents. The strategic town of Boukamal has also fallen to opposition forces.
