Trump imposes tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China
Hours after President Donald Trump signed executive orders implementing tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China, the three countries expressed their opposition and promised retaliatory measures. Canada and Mexico announced their own tariffs in response, while China stated it would file a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization and enact "necessary countermeasures." The tariffs are in response to Trump's concerns about the flow of fentanyl and undocumented immigrants to the U.S. The U.S. will begin collecting most of the tariffs on Tuesday, and the tariffs will remain in place until the crisis is alleviated.
