Protests draw thousands in France
Thousands of people marched in Paris and cities across France to protest against the far-right National Rally (RN) ahead of upcoming elections. The RN's recent surge in the European elections prompted labor unions, student groups, and rights groups to call for rallies opposing the anti-immigration, eurosceptic party. At least 150 marches were expected in cities including Marseille, Toulouse, Lyon, and Lille. In Paris, 75,000 people turned out for the march, which did become violent. Israeli soldiers killed by explosion in Rafah
Eight Israeli soldiers were killed in a blast in southern Gaza's Rafah. The soldiers were driving in a convoy following an overnight offensive against Hamas. The blast occurred inside a Namer armored combat engineering vehicle. It is unclear if the explosion was caused by a bomb planted ahead of time or if Hamas operatives placed an explosive device on the vehicle. This event took place on 06/15/2024.

Gun battle between security forces and terrorists reported in Saravan
Iranian armed forces engaged in a shootout with armed militants in the border city of Saravan, Sistan and Baluchestan province. The raid was repelled by the Iranian border guards. The attackers were injured and prevented from entering the country from the Pakistani side of the border. The assailants left behind a large cache of weapons and explosives. North Korea
North Korean construction reported in the DMZ
North Korea's military is constructing roads and walls inside the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that separates it from South Korea. The construction is happening north of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) and its purpose is unclear. South Korea is closely monitoring these activities and has detected signs of North Korea demolishing sections of a railway line connecting the two countries. This event took place on 06/15/2024.

Russian Su-24 violates Swedish airspace
A Russian Su-24 fighter aircraft violated Swedish airspace near Gotland. The Swedish air combat command warned the aircraft, but it did not respond. A JAS-39 Gripen then forced the aircraft out of Swedish airspace. The Swedish Air Force Manager, Jonas Wikman, expressed dissatisfaction with the Russian action, calling it unacceptable and disrespectful. This event took place on 06/15/2024.
