Haitian leaders have removed Frantz Elbé as the director of Haiti's National Police due to criticism of his failure to protect officers from gang violence. Normil Rameau, a former police chief, will take over the underfunded and ill-equipped department. Security forces end hostage situation at Russian detention facility
Security forces stormed a detention center in southern Russia, killing inmates accused of links to Islamist terror cells that had taken two staff members hostage. The hostages were uninjured, but it is reported that some of the prisoners were killed. The hostage-takers were armed with a penknife, a rubber baton, and a fire ax. Seven Chinese naval vessels and six planes tracked around Taiwan
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) monitored seven Chinese naval vessels and six military aircraft around Taiwan. Four of the aircraft crossed the Taiwan Strait median line in the northern and southwestern sectors of Taiwan's air defense identification zone (ADIZ). Explosions reported near ship off al Mukha
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a vessel near al Mukha in Yemen experienced two nearby explosions.
