Japan lodges protest with China over Chinese ship in territorial waters
Japan has lodged a formal protest against China for an incursion by a Chinese survey ship into its territorial waters. The ship was spotted near Kagoshima Prefecture and left shortly after being detected. Security forces kill 12 terrorists in Tirah Valley
Between last Thursday and Friday (August 28-29), at least 12 Khwarji terrorists were killed in ongoing intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Tirah Valley. These extensive IBOs have been underway since August 20, targeting the reported presence of Khwarji elements. In addition to the 12 killed, 14 others suffered serious injuries. The Pacific Islands Forum removed references to Taiwan from a communique after complaints from China's envoy. The bloc includes three members with ties to Taiwan and 15 members recognizing China. The original communique reaffirmed the 1992 decision on relations with Taiwan, but it was removed from the website and replaced with a new document without Taiwan references. China's special envoy called it a mistake and lobbied for Taiwan's exclusion. Taiwan's diplomatic allies in the Pacific have reduced as China offers more development funding. Deadly clashes reported in Jenin
An Israeli soldier named Staff Sgt. Elkana Navon was killed, and three others were wounded during clashes with Hamas gunmen in Jenin. The soldiers encountered two gunmen, believed to be prominent members of Hamas, and exchanged fire, resulting in the death of both gunmen and injuries to the soldiers. Navon later died from his injuries, and one officer is in serious condition. This event took place on 08/31/2024.
