Strike against new parliament in Mozambique

Mozambique's new parliament was sworn in amidst a deserted capital city after the opposition leader called for a strike to protest the disputed election results. Two smaller opposition parties boycotted the opening ceremony while the incoming president called for calm and unity. The opposition leader claims the results were rigged in favor of the ruling party that has been in power for 50 years. He urged supporters to demonstrate their refusal of the election result with a national strike. This event took place on 01/13/2025 at the following location: Maputo, Mozambique.
